We are very pleased to be working with The Royal Yacht Britannia in Leith, on the outskirts of Edinburgh. The evening will include a tour of the ship, dinner in the state dining room enjoying food prepared in the ship's galleys, and a new bespoke script called The Ambassador's Reception. The date is 21st March, 2026 and the menus and costs will be announced in mid-January. Register below to be the first to hear about this prestigious event.
The Royal Yacht Britannia was the official yacht of the British royal family for more than four decades and is one of the most famous ships in British history. She was launched in 1953 and served Queen Elizabeth II from 1954 until her retirement in 1997. Britannia was designed not only as a royal residence at sea but also as a symbol of Britain around the world.
During her service, Britannia travelled over one million nautical miles and visited more than 600 ports in 135 countries. She played an important role in diplomacy, often hosting heads of state, royal guests, and important meetings onboard. The yacht was also used for royal family holidays, providing a private and secure environment while travelling.
Although elegant, Britannia was relatively modest compared to modern luxury yachts. Her design reflected the Queen’s preference for practicality and duty rather than extravagance. One of the most famous moments in her history was her decommissioning in 1997, when Queen Elizabeth II was seen publicly emotional, highlighting her deep personal connection to the ship.
Today, the Royal Yacht Britannia is permanently moored in Edinburgh, Scotland, where it operates as a popular visitor attraction. It allows the public to explore royal history and gain insight into life aboard a working royal yacht.
